Tis the season for recruiting volunteers for our "Lunch Buddies" Reading Program at Jefferson Elementary School. I would like to invite you to participate in this year's program by simply replying to this email invitation or calling me at 269-9041 today! We need you!
What is "Lunch Buddies"? A delightful group of volunteers who donate their time listening to students grades 1-5, read books of their reading ability for 25 minutes over the lunch hour. A rewarding experience for the volunteer as they watch their student progress over the 10 week period, and a fun time for the students who look forward to reading with their buddies each week, and gain a new love of reading.
Where is it located? At Jefferson Elementary School, 1201 10th Ave. NE, Rochester, MN in the playroom. Phone: 328-3500
When does it start and end? This year's program begins January 12 and ends on March 17 (St. Patrick's Day!).
What is the schedule? Volunteers and students meet once a week, either Tuesdays or Wednesdays. This year we have a conflict with our room being used, so there will be two weeks off of the 10 week program. (Please print the attached calendar)
· Tuesdays: Jan. 12, Jan. 26, Feb. 2, Feb 9, Feb 23, March 2, March 9, March 16.
Tuesday off days: Jan. 19 and Feb. 16.
· Wednesdays: Jan. 13, Jan.20, Feb. 3 Feb. 10, Feb. 17, March 3, March 10, March 17.
Wednesday off days: Jan. 27, Feb. 24.
· Times to choose:
o 11:25 - 11:50 2nd Grade
o 11:40 - 12:05 3rd Grade
o 11:55 - 12:20 4th Grade
o 12:10 - 12:35 1st Grade
o 12:25 - 12:50 5th Grade
What's new? We are offering the option to work with one(1) or two(2) students. You decide what works best for you! Also, the commitment is for 8 weeks over a 10 week period.
How do I sign up? I hope you will consider volunteering your time this year to work with a child. Our volunteers do indeed make a difference!! Please contact me today!!
